Student Registration Guide

This guide is for students joining a school and a team on the platform. Your coach sends you an Invite Link. If the link skips verification, accepting it creates your account, adds you to your school and then lets you join your team. Otherwise you join your school first, with your school email address or an application your coach approves, and then open the link again for the team.

Coaches: your own registration is in the Coach Registration Guide, and how to make an Invite Link is in the Team Creation Guide. Feel free to send this page to your players as-is.

1. Join your team from an invite link

1.1 Get an invite link from your coach

Your coach makes an Invite Link for your school or team and shares it with you by email, a class message or a QR code. The link opens the page with an invite attached.

Links can expire or reach a use limit, and a link that skips verification stops working after 48 hours. If the link no longer works, ask your coach for a fresh one.

1.2 Open the link and read the invite

Opening the link shows an invite screen before anything happens. It names the team, the school, and the coach who invited you, and a panel headed What happens when you accept lists the steps:

  1. Create your account with an email or a passkey.

  2. Either "You will be added to [team]: this invite is your verification" (a link that skips verification), or "Join [school] first: it checks who joins, and this invite does not skip that", followed by "Then open this invite again to join [team]".

  3. Choose how you appear to the other members.

If you are new to the platform, click Accept and Create Account. If you already have an account, click I Already Have an Account - Sign In and skip to step 1.5.

If you see "This invite link is no longer active", the link expired or reached its use limit. Ask your coach for a new one. Continue Without the Invite still opens the page so you can look around.

1.3 Create your account

Account creation is short:

  1. Enter your email address and click Send Code.

  2. Paste the 6-character code from your inbox (letters and numbers) and click Sign In.

  3. Confirm your birthday.

  4. Enter your first name, last name, and a username, agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and click Continue. Your username is permanent.

A banner at the top of the screen reads "Accepting invite" with your team and school, so you know the invite is being carried through. If the link skips verification, you also skip the school search and school verification. If it doesn't, the Select Verification Method step asks for your school email address (a 6-character code is sent to it) or an application for your coach to approve; once you are in the school, open the link again to join the team.

You must be at least 13 to create your own account. If you are under 13, ask your coach to add you as a Managed Member instead.

Your school's coaches and league staff can see your real name. Other players see only your username unless you choose to share your name.

If the code email does not arrive, check your spam folder. On a school network, your IT team may need to allow emails from our platform.

1.4 Join the team

After your account is created, you return to the team page. If the invite screen shows again, click Continue as [your name], or Join [school] when the school comes first. The Join Team window opens.

  1. Leave your role on Player unless your coach tells you otherwise.

  2. Choose how you appear to the other members. A box that starts with "I acknowledge" must be ticked to join.

  3. Click Join as Player.

You land on the team page as a member. You are also a member of your school, so your coach can add you to other teams later without another invite.

1.5 If you already have an account

Sign in from the invite screen, then click Continue as your name. The same team join window opens, and you go through step 1.4. No new account is created.

Signed in as the wrong person? Click Not You? Use Another Account on the invite screen.

1.6 If your coach invited you by search

If your coach invites you by search instead of a link, you get an invite to review: open it from your notifications or the team page, choose how you appear to the other members, and click Accept.

1.7 After you join

A few things worth doing right away:

  • Link your game accounts under Settings then Accounts, so opponents can invite you to a lobby on match day and your ranks and match stats sync. The Game Handles Guide shows how.

  • Watch your notifications for match assignments and reminders.

  • In a K-12 league everything happens on the platform: Match Chat, team chat and sign-in. You will not be asked to join Discord.

  • When your coach registers the team for a competition, the platform may ask you to complete something before you can play, such as linking a game account. Do that before match day.
